I am not a trained dancer.

It wasn't an option that was available to me when I was younger. However, it did not shelter me from knowing the effect moving had on me. Moving my body through space to music (however graceful or not), felt freeing, and somehow connected me more to myself. Depending on the music, it could lead to more energy and hype me up for a good cleaning session, or provide me with a much needed release of emotion as I allowed my body to tell the story of how I was feeling at the moment.

These days, I am more apt to shake my money maker alone in my kitchen using a wooden spoon as a karaoke mic or drumsticks via a dance floor, but loving the feeling of moving to music never quite left me. Which is likely one of the reasons I fell in love with photographing dancers.

A few months ago, I came across an article that talked about the positive effects dance can have on mental health, and after attending a recent photography conference and bouncing some ideas off of friends, an idea was born. I decided to produce a gallery show showcasing portraits of dancers from toddlers to elderly, and raise money for mental health services in the process.

So...

I am doing something new-to-me and attaching it to something I feel is deeply important. The gallery show is called Focus on E-Motion, and funds raised through participation fees with be directly allocated to Counseling and Mental Health needs at the Rape and Abuse Crisis Service in Mid-Missouri.

So, how can you help??

I need DANCERS.

I have a goal of 50 dancers to participate with a June 2025 show at Capitol City Cinema. Dancers do not have to be classically trained. As mentioned, I am looking for participants from the wee-ones to the aged, and all skill levels.

There is a participation fee of $150, and all proceeds from participation fees will go to RACS.

For that $150, dancers will receive:

* A one-hour dance session.

* Personal Viewing and Image selection appointment via zoom (In advance of show)

* A $250 product credit to use toward any collection

* Admission to Focus on E-Motion Gallery Show

* Option to keep image displayed (photographer's choice), Thank You, Bee Seen Signs, for offering to donate printing for this show.

If you are interested (or know someone who might be) please fill out the contact information (and share!!), and I will be in touch to get you started.
