To become the best version of yourself, you must first learn to love yourself fully. Only then can the world truly experience what you have to offer.

In a world that places immense importance on physical appearance, it's not uncommon for women to feel insecure or self-conscious about being photographed. We see dozens of reminders daily about how, for one reason or another, we fall short of the ever-changing societal standards of beauty. Just look at any beauty product ad..promises of looking younger, thinner, more beautiful.....Whether someone chooses to fight the ticking clock, or not, I have always believed that every woman is uniquely beautiful and deserves to capture and celebrate her own unique essence. Buuuuuttttt, our insecurities can have powerful holds on us, and while I do the work (DAILY) to break through and become the person I want to be, I want to encourage you all to do the same, and celebrate where you are now.

YOU ARE GOOD ENOUGH NOW.

I cannot emphasize enough: beauty comes in all shapes, sizes, and forms. Embrace your unique features, whether it's your smile, eyes, or any other aspect that makes you.....YOU. Remember, no one else in this world looks like you, and that is something to be celebrated and cherished.

I have one simple rule in my studio, and that is ‘no negative self talk allowed’. Instead of focusing on perceived flaws, try shifting your perspective and focusing on what you LOVE about yourself. Remind yourself of your accomplishments, strengths, and the qualities that make you a remarkable individual. Over time, you’ll gradually develop a positive self-image, making it easier to feel confident in front of the camera. Self-love is an active process….You can wish it true…or you can consciously put negative self talk aside and replace it with something more nurturing. Reward the positive moves with self-care practices!! Get a massage, take a candle-lit bubble bath, engage in a favorite hobby or spend time with friends. Taking care of yourself does wonders for a positive self image.

If you are considering a portrait session but nerves have you frozen in terror, communicate your insecurities, concerns, and preferences with your photographer!!  A skilled photographer will be understanding and empathetic, ensuring they capture your true essence while making you feel comfortable. Together, you can explore poses, angles, and lighting that highlight your best features, further boosting your confidence.

Most importantly, remember that perfection does not exist. Embrace your authentic self and let go of unrealistic expectations. It's the imperfections and unique quirks that make you who you are. Allow yourself to be vulnerable and embrace the beauty of being human. Let your authenticity shine through in your portraits!

Being photographed should be a celebration of your unique beauty and an opportunity to capture cherished memories. By recognizing your unique beauty, shifting your perspective, seeking positive support, practicing self-care, communicating with your photographer, and embracing authenticity, you can overcome insecurities and feel confident in front of the camera. Embrace your inner radiance, for it is the essence that makes you truly beautiful.

I hope to be blessed enough to have you sit in front of my camera one day.
